Topic –  PowerPoint presentation about her new book, “Elizabeth & Ann Timothy: America’s first female journalists in Colonial and Revolutionary times.”

Speaker –  Austin China

Topic –  African American Civil War Soldiers from Sumter County.

Will discuss pre and post war genealogy for African Americans serving the Union Army in the United States Colored Troop 104th Infantry Regiment, all of these men were slaves on plantations across Sumter County. During the Occupation of Potter’s Raider’s, they were recruited to join the Union Army, trained in Beaufort SC and stationed in the Low-Country. At the end of thir service the men returned to Sumter County where many were active members in the community.
